About BCMS
BCMS was established in 1944 by a group of music lovers who wanted to provide Bournemouth with recitals of the finest chamber music played by the best artists available. This is an aim which the present Committee has faithfully endeavoured to fulfil over many years, and many very distinguished artists have appeared at our concerts. Each season, a varied programme of six recitals takes place, and those who subscribe to the whole season become Members of the Society. Each concert, however, is also available to everybody on an individual basis, and can be booked in advance at the Bournemouth Music Library (01202 454845). Since October 2010, our concerts have been given at Bournemouth University, Fern Barrow, off Talbot Avenue BH12 5BB. A new lecture theatre in Kimmeridge House, which has a magnificent state of the art acoustic system, is where our concerts now take place. The theatre is raked, providing excellent sight-lines, is air-conditioned and has a fine new grand piano available on site. Disabled patrons can be driven right up to the hall to be set down close to the entrance. You will find the usual friendly atmosphere, with free parking and refreshments in the interval, in addition to the high quality concerts upon which we have built our reputation. We hope that you will take advantage of the substantial discount available to subscribing members, and will make these concerts a regular part of your enjoyment of music.
